"Shoreline Guardian"

The photograph captures a large freighter or industrial ship moving past the St. Joseph North Pier Inner Lighthouse (the white building with a red roof) under an overcast sky.

• Subject & Perspective: The shot is taken from the pier itself, looking down the length of the metal catwalk toward the lighthouse. The massive grey ship appears to be emerging from or heading into the misty horizon.

• Composition: The angular lines of the pier’s railing and catwalk create a strong leading line that draws the eye toward the lighthouse and the ship beyond.

• Color Palette: A minimalist and desaturated scheme of whites, greys, and blacks, accented by the deep red of the lighthouse roof.

• Atmosphere: The hazy, diffused light creates a calm yet industrious mood, contrasting with the high-drama energy of previous "splashing wave" shots within my lighthouse album.
